A5 re-opens following 'police incident' blocking both directions in Milton Keynes

The A5 has re-opened in both directions in Milton Keynes following a police incident.

The block was in place between the junctions with A509 Portway and A421 Grafton Street.

Police have now released a statement regarding the incident.

It reads: "Thames Valley Police were called today following a fear for welfare incident involving a woman on the A5, Central Milton Keynes."

"Officers attended the scene and put a road closure in place in order to ensure public safety."

"The woman has since been made safe and the road closure has been lifted."

The full closure was reported at around 3.30pm and lifted at around 3.45pm.

Traffic has now returned to normal in the affected area.

Eyewitnesses reported a Police presence at the scene as well as an ambulance.
