Milton Keynes performing arts school choreograph ‘Moo dance’ in support of Willen Hospice

In a bid to get Milton Keynes Mooving for the Willen Hospice Summer of Moo, local dance students from Myra Tiffin Performing Arts School (MTPAS) have choreographed a special ‘Moo dance’ for the MK community to learn and share on social media.

The Summer of Moo encompasses the charity’s popular Midday Moo, Midnight Moo and Mini Moo events, all taking place across the summer months. The Midday Moo is the first event, happening next month on Saturday 25th June, which is a 5 or 10 mile walk in the day. This is followed by a nighttime walk, the Midnight Moo, on Friday 15th July, and a family favourite, the Mini Moo, is on Sunday 7th August, which invites children aged 3 – 11 to scoot, run or walk around Willen Lake North. The Moo Dance is a fun way for local people to join the "Moovement" and show their support for their local Hospice, which helps so many MK families.

The Stony Stratford based Performing Arts School filmed a tutorial of the dance, with Willen Hospice Mascot, Florence Moo, to make it easier to learn. The dance and tutorial can be viewed here or on the charity’s social media. Over the coming weeks, Flo is going on ‘tour’ visiting local businesses, schools, colleges and community groups to teach the Moo dance! Everyone is encouraged to get Mooving and film the dance, whether it is just a part, or the whole routine, and post it to social media using #ShowUsYourMooves or email it to marketing@willen-hospice.org.uk.

Myra Tiffin Performing Arts School (MTPAS) are fantastic supporters of Willen, especially since Myra's husband, and daughter Rosina’s father Roger, was cared for by the Hospice.

Rosina Andrews, MTPAS, said, “Willen Hospice is very special to us, and the wider MTPAS family. It’s been an honour to choreograph the Moo dance for the Summer of Moo, and our dancers have done a fantastic routine for everyone to learn at home, at work, or at school.  It’s really good fun with some classic moves thrown in, and we hope that everyone gives it a go.

“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who gets moo-ving and fundraises for such a great cause, because you never know when your family will be in need of Willen’s care.”

Rachael Withe, Willen Hospice Marketing Manager, said “We are very grateful to MTPAS for choreographing our very own ‘Moo dance’ and helping us put the FUN into fundraising.  Dancing makes people happy, and that joy is something we all need after a tough few years.  As a charity, our fundraising potential has been severely impacted as a result of the pandemic, yet our care has continued throughout.  We appreciate that times are tight for everyone now but we hope the community of Milton Keynes will come together for our fun events and help us smash our Summer of Moo fundraising goal of £125,000."
