Volunteering with Secklow 105.5

Secklow 105.5 fm is a voluntary organisation; no one is paid for their time.  We owe our existence volunteers, like you, and we will strive to make your time with us, enjoyable and rewarding. We have four ‘Key Commitments’ that we have made to Ofcom and will carry out as part of our broadcasts. They are (1) inclusion for those from Disadvantaged/Marginalized groups; (2) meeting the needs of those with Diverse interests; (3) providing a platform for the local emerging Music and Arts sector, and (4) promoting the work of the Voluntary Sector.

Secklow Sounds 105.5 FM, is looking for volunteer Radio Presenters who will assist us in providing a first-class Community Radio service in Milton Keynes. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and want to meet the needs of those who are marginalised, ethnic groups, and other under-served communities. As a Presenter, you are the voice of a station; you are responsible for creating the tone and style of Radio output and establishing a relationship with listeners through entertaining and informative shows, including local traffic, news and weather. You may also be required to carry out a range of other production tasks, such as voice-overs and representing the station at local events.

This is an opportunity to meet people, receive training, gain experience in this type of work and gain skills such as research, communication, planning, organising, analysis, improvisation, and problem solving that could develop from a voluntary role to a career in the radio industry.
